Affordability
LCC was created so that we, the working class could attain higher education and forge our American Dream.
In 2015 there's a runaway price tag on this necessary tool for our survival. Trying to achieve upward mobility in our country today has become increasingly difficult.
Year after year we continue to increase tuition, it's time we live up to our original intent as a “Community” college, a “Community” College that supports the backbone of labor keeping our jobs here, in Lane County and Oregon.
The disappearing middle class, comes at a high price for Oregon's economy, as stated in LERC's “The High Cost of Low Wages in Oregon” report,
“Oregon families are struggling .... as school gets more expensive, students face a heavier burden to cover education costs and most end up with education-related debt.”
It is imperative that we turn the dial on present opportunities for Lane Community College. As we lobby in Salem, it is important we garner statewide and grassroots support from us, the working class, we are the ones truly invested in attaining the American Dream.
We need to begin designing an efficient, public oriented, investment model for the benefit of Lane County's economic future, and our 21st century labor force.
In my 4 years, my commitment is, to ensure we not only highlight the broad statewide support, but put into action calls to Restore Higher Ed.

Acceptance/Equity
In this 21st century we have shifting and ever changing demographics. We form diversity committees, we hold events to celebrate diversity.
Our institutions engage us with words like Equity, Diversity, and Cultural Competency. Yet, we fail to institutionalize and embed these very things into our existing policies, creating a competent Community College.
I promise to work hard as a team member to achieve these goals that the administration, faculty, classified staff, and Board members have set before themselves.
Accountability/Community Participation
As an organizer and community advocate I am always in pursuit of real time information to be able to better serve my constituency.
I strive to gather information from the community by ways of evening forums, luncheon forums, coffee chats, and individual conversations.
Without community communication a Board member cannot serve, that is why my continued work will be addressing concerns of Lane Community College Faculty, Classified, Students, Parents, and the larger community.
